The Jelly Chronicles Blog

During a routine anatomy scan at 23 weeks gestation of our second son Mason the Dr found a concerning shadow on his heart.

A series of echos followed and found that Mason had several serious Congenital heart defects that would require surgery shortly after birth.
On January 10th, 2011 on his 4th day of life Mason underwent open heart surgery at Children's hospital in Los Angles to repair an Interrupted Aortic Arch type B, a large ventricular septal defect (hole in the heart), and ductus arteriosus (PDA).
The heart surgery was a complete success and although Mason may required valve surgery sometime in the future his heart now functions at a "normal" level.
At three weeks of age Mason was diagnosed with CHARGE syndrome. We are just now learning how CHARGE has affected Mason's health and future.
We are on our journey filled with love for our boy and hope for his future. Thank you for being a part of our journey.
