Mom has left to take a little break so it is just the two of us. I am looking over at you thinking about what I will say to you when you ask me about your heart. After all we are keeping this blog as a record to help you understand what you went through. I have been searching for the right words to explain why you had to go through this. As if there could ever be such words. As for a why I will just say that sometimes bad things happen to good people. The amazing thing is the love and support that you are getting from family, friends and people that do not even know us. In a way you are a very lucky boy.
Today I counted 17 lines pumping medicines into your body and 3 tubs removing fluids from you. You have been struggling to keep your blood pressure steady, I just think you like the attention the nurses are paying you (That's my boy!). I have done somethings that not very many Fathers can say that they have done. I shook the hand of the man who actually touched your Heart, and I looked at your beating Heart inside your chest. So again how do I tell you about your heart? Maybe the thing to tell you is that we are all born different, you just needed a little help, and there were a lot of really great people there to help fix a little heart. - Dad

George you are an amazing father!! Pierce and Mason are so lucky to have you as their dad. Amy is so blessed to have you as a partner in her life.
Why? I have asked that same question a million times. I have finally decided the answer is "because God made you that way and he doesn't make mistakes". Whatever the reason, he saw fit to send out babies with imperfections. As hard as it is we learn from them. God bless you and yours Mason is lucky to be born into a family full of love.
George,
Our hearts are with you, Amy, Pierce and Mason. Your strength and love is an inspiration, as is strength and fight within the little "warrior" himself. Our love and prayers are constantly with you.
Hugs and kisses
Dena
